NLS-Glossary
Code set / Barcode
A subset of the full ASCII character set that is used in Code 128 and its variants. A symbol can switch between code sets by using control or flag characters.
Code-128
is a very compact and versatile language which allows the encodation of the entire 128 ASCII character set. This symbology is self-checking and is designed with geometric features to improve scanner read performance.
Coherence length
is the spatial distance over which any two points P and Q on a waveform at a given instant can be correlated, one can be predicted from the other. Suppose that a wave train has a coherence time ∆t then its coherence length l = c∆t.
Coherence time
is the longest time period over which any two points P and Q at a given location can be correlated, one can be predicted from the other. When a sine wave is chopped, truncated, so that it exists only over the time period then it is not a perfect sine wave and contains a distribution of frequencies. The spectral width and the temporal coherence are related by .
Coherent radiation
(or light) consists of waves that have the same wavelength and always have the same phase difference with respect to each other at all times.
Color field / Barcode
A optional block of color that can be placed along one or more sides of the Data Matrix portion of a 2D-Pharmacode symbol. Color fields are used to check for the presence of certain colors on pharmaceutical packaging (such as red warning labels).
