NLS-Glossary

Alphanumeric Code

Alphanumeric codes are defined as binary codes used to represent alphanumeric data. The codes write alphanumeric data, including letters of the alphabet, mathematical symbols, numbers, and punctuation marks. which is used to encode product information and characteristics.

Alternating Light

is the light with a periodically changing radiated power.

Ambient light, permissible

Measurement systems, which measure with a form of light (white light, laser), have a limit for the maximum permissible ambient light. If the maximum permissible light is exceeded, the measurement acquisition can be affected. The figure is given in lux.

Ambient Temperature Ta

The maximum permissible temperature range at which a sensor may be operated while ensuring reliable sensor functioning. The proximity switch does work properly within this temperature range.

Amorphous solid

exhibits no crystalline structure or long range order. It only posses a short range order in that the nearest neighbors of an atom are well defined by virtue of chemical bonding requirements.

Amplified Spontaneous Emission

Synonyms :
Superluminescence

a process where spontaneously emitted radiation is amplified. The ASE is an ideal solution for a low degree-of-polarization broadband source. It is a powerful, compact system which allows power to be adjusted by current injection, a manual on/off switch, and software network control. It exhibits excellent wavelength stability, high power, low intensity noise, low coherence, and a large bandwidth.
